Smoke Signal 12 [action]

[One week out of work due to a case of "killer fishlady" and Charlie was determined to make it to work today. She'd tried on Halloween but apparently, she was mistaken for something tasty and nutritious a few times and after making sure people got home and away from the cannibalistic residents of The City, Charlie stayed in until she was sure it was safe to go out. She had errands to run before heading to The Jasmine Dragon, though, so her schedule sort of went like this:

First Stop: Laundromat. Her clothes need washing. Some of them are bloody. Anything that still had a blood stain on it after being washed was tossed. She also brought along a couple books to read and an apple and has tucked herself into a corner to read while she waits for machines to finish doing their thing.

Second Stop: Groceries. Yes, she's going to try to carry groceries AND a small duffel bag of clothes. No, she doesn't need h---okay, maybe if someone took a shopping bag, that'd be super.

Third Stop: Home but that's irrelevant. She's just here to drop things off, put things away and then head to work.

Final Stop! If anyone is at the Jasmine Dragon, Charlie will be your friendly waitress today.

[One of her favorite gingers! She grins, considering the mess of things she's carrying a moment and while it'd be easier to be stubborn and say "No, I got it." the fact that she almost drops the carton of milk in her hand changes her mind.] That would be amazing. How are you?

[George takes as many of the shopping as he can manage and starts along next to her.]

Alright, yeah. Managed to survive the week, then?

Mostly. I was a mermaid for a couple days. It wasn't pretty. [She kept drowning people. She grins at George, so very glad he's grabbed some of the bags. She really does try too hard to do everything at once. Call it habit, or stubborn-ness.]

I am jealous of you both. [Not as much as she makes it seem, honestly.] It was a crazy week. Yesterday wasn't that amazing, either, so actually I'm glad you two got left out. It was severely lacking in fun.

[He's doing his own laundry, and he's currently waiting in one of those small plastic seats. He's reading a copy of The Great Gatsby.]

[She glances over at him, smiling briefly before heading over and sitting next to him, quietly nudging his shoulder with hers. That's pretty much all she does. Not a word was said BUT she was definitely happy to see him.]

Same. I need my work stuff. [She pauses, watching her own clothes spin.] So...please tell me you avoided the horrors of this past week.

[Buffy is washing goo covered clothes from her latest stint in the arena. She's just got a small basket of clothes and they're in the washer before she notices Charlie sitting there reading. She brought a magazine to read herself.]

A whole book. You musts be here for the long haul.

Yeah. It's kind of been a tough week to get out of my house in any safe and me-shaped fashion so, I have a lot of laundry to do. [She says with a grin. And then, she remembers something.] Your coat. I had it cleaned as per the instructions on the tag. It's at my apartment. Thank you for that, by the way.

Don't be. It's The City. [She's starting to accept the fact that anything can and does happen and on occasion, there is a fucked up twist.]

I just hope that doesn't happen again. I hate being in water. It's...oddly uncomfortable.
