smoke signal 15: video

This was the last thing I expected when I woke up this morning.

[There is a girl about 11 years old staring into the video with an annoyed look on her face. For anyone that's known Charlie long enough, they might recognize the big blue eyes or at least think they were familiar.

Anyway, the child speaking is outside somewhere. Possibly wandering Xanadu like she's searching for something important. And she looks worried.]

I really hope this is just a physical change and not a mental one. [It is just a bit, but not the way she's thinking.] Otherwise, oh man is this going to be interesting.

[A pause.]...I almost wish my dad was here. This is kinda scary.

My Mom's here. You can share her if you want. I have to share her with Sam anyway.

[She's not quite suspicious of this person so she tilts her head.] Sam?

My little brother but today he's grown up.

That's kind of...[Nope. can't think of a word for it. Especially since she's partially sure she's supposed to be grown up, too. Maybe. Or maybe this is just a warped-as-fuck dream. What was that thing people who've been through horrible experiences suffer from? Post tr--traumat...that thing. Maybe she had that and had finally gone nuts? Oh, well.]

Dean. Okay. And you're here with your family? [She's not jealous. No, sir. Not a bit.]

My mom and my brother. Don't know where Dad is though and he's the one that's usually around.

[charring]

That's good. [At this age, Charlie is jealous.] Where are they?

[If anything, she wants to be around what she's hoping is a loving family at the moment.]

We're all at the house. You can come over and play if you want.

[That totally appeals to the child part of her mind and she grins!] Okay! I'll follow you, Dean.

I bet Mom will make some cookies. Do you like sugar ones?

You had me at 'cookies', Dean. Doesn't matter what kind.

[He gives her a big, toothy grin.] She makes really good cookies and waffles too. Do you like legos? Mom bought me legos today too.

I haven't played with legos in a while. [Mostly because when they melt, they smell awful.]
